Amber and Grandma Vella

We took Amber up to see grandma on sunday at the hospital. She was moved for critical care to immediate care that morning and was up and talking. She was a little confused but recognized all of us and Amber was glad she got to see her. Earlier that morning Vella pulled out her intabation tube and was so proud of herself. They were able to move her and we were so glad to see her feeling better. The day before she couldn't talk and so she would write down what she wanted to say. She kept saying she wanted to die and that she loved us. We were afried she was going to give up and refuse treatment. But she decieded to take her tube out on her own and was so proud of herself. When we saw her she was smiling and laughing. Her oxygen level kept going down and they decieded to give her more oxygen. Whe she seemed to be doing well we left. After we got home from Ogden we got a call from Wendy, Jim's sister that she took a turn for the worst. Her Oxygen level went done and her heart started racing and she was in critical condition again! We put the kids to bed and went back down to Ogden Regional hospital and we found the rest of Jim's family there. She was really laboring just to breathe and was in and out of consciousness for the nest couple hours. If you talked to her she would arouse and try to speak. When they decieded to turn off the meds. because she was laboring so much they wanted to give some relief, she said where is Tanya. Tanya had left Delta, which is 3 hours away and they didn't think they should make her wait any longer. But grandma held on for Tanya to get there and she gave her the biggest hug and told her to keep her family together. Tanya told her she could go and just to rest and Grandma closed her eyes and seemed to be on her way home. We all said our goodbyes and went home to rest. Darlene, Dot, Kim, Jane and Tanya stayed with her all night and she lasted through the night. We got a call around 1pm on Monday and she finally went home to her Heavenly Father and her husband and family.

Vella always treated me and my kids like family. She never forgot a birthday and was glad to see us when ever we made time to see her. I love you Grandma Vella, you are a wonderful lady! Love, Kathleen and family
